How is the donor prepared for donation?
Subcutaneous injections are self-administered (like insulin) 1x a day, usually for 11 days. The aim is to stimulate the ovaries to grow follicles. During stimulation, you will undergo an ultrasound scan to determine if stimulation is adequate. Eggs will be retrieved in the morning on a predetermined day. Eggs are retrieved under monitored, short sedation (anaesthesia), which usually lasts no more than ten minutes.
