When women hear "egg donation," many imagine it as a last resort. But for fertility specialists, it’s now a common and highly effective method of helping women achieve their dream of having a baby—especially when their own eggs no longer meet the necessary biological standards.
Who is IVF with donor eggs suitable for, and how does the process work?
When women hear “egg donation,” many imagine it as a last resort. But for fertility specialists, it’s now a common and highly effective method of helping women achieve their dream of having a baby—especially when their own eggs no longer meet the necessary biological standards.
IVF with donor eggs is most often recommended for women:
- over the age of 40 (and sometimes younger women with premature ovarian failure),
- with genetic risks they wish to avoid passing on,
- or for those who have undergone several unsuccessful IVF cycles using their own eggs.
At Europe IVF, we exclusively use fresh eggs from healthy donors under the age of 32. “Frozen eggs may sound modern, but fresh eggs generally offer higher biological quality and better implantation success rates,” explains Dr. Irena Folauf.
Interestingly, the entire egg donation process in the Czech Republic is completely anonymous—yet highly personalized. Every patient is matched with a donor based on physical and genetic characteristics. It’s not a “vending machine” approach, but a carefully tailored match.
Curious why we use only fresh eggs at our clinic?
